Essential Oils

Essential oils are aromatic and volatile substances that are typically steam distilled from various plant materials: flowers, leaves, needles, resin, roots, stems…  Citrus essential oils are cold pressed from the rinds of the fruit and are some of the most vibrant and uplifting of all essential oils.

Essential oils are often known as the life blood or immune system of the plant.  Their job is to protect and heal from injury and disease, and just as they do for plants, they can support us to live a life of optimal wellness.

Essential oils are highly concentrated and one drop has the potential to reach every cell of your body within 20 minutes.  That is powerful!  Each essential oil is made up of chemical constituents and it’s these constituents that provide the different qualities of each oil.

Essential Oils are perfectly designed to work synergistically with our bodies and offer physical, mental, emotional and spiritual support when needed.

Essential Oils can uplift, calm, de-stress, motivate, inspire, relax, rejuvenate and refresh!

HOW TO USE THEM

Essential oils are super easy to use.. There are three main ways to incorporate them into your day to day life.

TOPICAL APPLICATION

This is via dilution with a carrier oil and applied to the skin or via a bath or aromatic compress.  If you use the world’s best essential oils like I do, they can often be applied undiluted to the skin. The safest place to apply, especially with children, is on the bottom of the feet.  Some of the “hot” oils such as Peppermint, Oregano and Clove should always be diluted prior to application.  If you are ever in doubt, read the label and go from there.  And never use water to try and wash away an essential oil if gets too close to the eyes or other sensitive areas of the body.  Water will only exacerbate the sensation so instead, dilute with a vegetable oil such as Coconut or Olive oil, and this will lessen the discomfort.

AROMATIC APPLICATION

This could be as simple as inhaling straight from the bottle or adding drops to one of our beautiful, ultrasonic, ionising diffusers.  The beauty of this technology is that it diffuses the essential oil without heat so that the therapeutic value of the essential oil remains intact.  The action of these oils is second to none and so we want to preserve that by only using the proper equipment for diffusion.  If you are a lover of pretty smelling candles and melts you will love using a diffuser in your home.  It’s a much safer, non toxic and healthy way to fragrance your home with the added benefit of transforming the energy in your home.  Diffusing can uplift the mood and destress all who live there.  It really is amazing!

INTERNAL APPLICATION

Essential oils have been used internally to treat and support the body throughout history, and most recently in the French aromatherapy method. However, because the industry has boomed and there are many companies cutting corners and profiting off their popularity, ingestion is generally not advised. Ingesting synthetic or poor quality essential oils can be dangerous and make you very sick, which is why it is so important to buy essential oils that come straight from the source. Many companies simply buy from a wholesaler and add their own label. You really don’t know what you’re buying! The essential oils I use are as pure as you can get. Despite their superior quality, there are still some oils that are recommended for topical and aromatic use only.
